Animal Study

1. Mice were fed silymarin (1000 ppm) for 8 weeks before, or 24 weeks after having urinary bladder carcinogenesis induced. The silymarin effectively prevented the development of bladder cancer.

MULTIVITAMINS

2. Daily supplementation with the recommended daily allowance (RDA) plus vitamin A (40,000 IU), vitamin B6 (100 mg), vitamin C (2000 mg) vitamin E (400 IU) and zinc (90 mg), significantly lowered the incidence of bladder cancer tumor recurrence compared to those receiving only the RDA. It was estimated that over 5 years, patients receiving megadose supplementation would be almost half as likely to have tumors recur compared to those receiving only the RDA
